Dinner in White on the Columbia
Date: September 10, 2016
Time: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Event Description
Dinner in White on the Columbia River is a very special gathering of people for a unique experience to enjoy good food, great music, and the company of other wonderful people. This year, the event will also be a fundraiser to help build a bigger, better library in Washougal that can meet the needs of a rapidly growing community.
Dinner in White on the Columbia River is fashioned after the Diner in Blanc event which was started in Paris over 27 years ago by Francois Pasquier who invited a few of his friends to a picnic at the Bois de Boulogne Park. All of the attendees agreed to dress in white so they could find each other in the park.
The celebration was such a success that they decided that the next year, each person would invite their friends to participate. Last year, over 15,000 people participated in the Diner in Blanc event.
We are pleased to invite you to participate in our local version of this beautiful and fun event and enjoy a wonderful evening at Marina Park at the Port of Camas-Washougal. The park provides a spectacular view of Mount Hood, a scenic backdrop of the Columbia River, and a breath-taking sunset.
There are, however, some requirements to being part of the Dinner in White on the Columbia River experience. Everyone must wear white. Get fancy, sassy and crazy; this is your moment to shine. White hats, white wigs, white jeans with white tee-shirts - it’s all good as long as it is white.
Tables and chairs are provided, but seating is on a first-come first-served basis. Attendees may access the venue beginning at 4:00 p.m. in order to have adequate time to select their seats and decorate their tables. Guests must bring their own dinner, tableware, table décor, and white tablecloth. So bring your best dishes, cutlery and crystal (no paper plates or plastic ware). Impress everyone with your cooking skills, table decorating talents, and ability to create ambience. Let your creativity shine and make it a night to remember!
Please remember, there will be prizes for all the “bests”: best-dressed man, best-dressed woman, best table presentation, and best-dressed couple.
Dinner begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. with the traditional waving of white cloth napkins. After dinner, there is music and dancing until the sun goes down, so don’t forget your dancing shoes.
You should also know that you cannot bring your own alcohol to this event. Not to worry as vendors have been invited to showcase their outstanding wines and will be presenting quality liquors made into specialty cocktails for your enjoyment. You are welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages, and an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
Finally, there will be a silent auction of many interesting and wonderful items, so come prepared to do a little shopping.
Dinner in White on the Columbia River is a 21-and-over event.
Early Bird tickets are available for $25 through Sunday, July 31, 2016. Tickets purchased after July 31 will be $30 per person.
Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable but will be transferrable.
Dinner in White on the Columbia will take place regardless of weather condition.
